David Corujo

Background

I have been trained in biochemistry, molecular biology and genomics in the University of Barcelona and obtained a PhD in Genetics by the University of Barcelona for my work developed in the group of Marcus Buschbeck at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (Spain). Since then, I have continued to work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Buschbeck laboratory.

My interest and background are the study of chromatin regulation at a molecular level through epigenetic factors and 3D structure and its implications in physiology and disease. I am passionate about teaching and training people.

Research

My research focus is understanding epigenetic mechanisms and the alterations in chromatin regulation that occur in cancer. In particular, I focus in the study of histone variants in the context of hematological malignancies by combining experimental and computational approaches.

Furthering our knowledge on the molecular components and malfunctions that enable cancer cells to expand uncontrollably can allow us to identify much-needed novel points of therapeutic intervention.
