Doctoral Candidate

Eleftherios Morres

Background

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Crete, where I developed a strong interest in epigenetics. I was fascinated by the idea that our genetic code is “decorated” with molecular marks that influence the temporal regulation of gene expression, and there for cells’ ability to differentiate. I then pursued a Master's degree at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) at FORTH in Crete, where I studied the mechanisms that govern gene regulation during T cell development in the thymus.

I am now continuing this journey as a PhD candidate in the lab of Professor Zylicz at reNEW, University of Copenhagen, and as a member of the Marie Curie Doctoral Network NUCLEAR.

Research

My research focuses on the role of metabolic enzymes in the nucleus of embryonic stem cells and how they influence gene regulation and differentiation. This is an exciting and rapidly emerging field with many unanswered questions, and I am thrilled to contribute to it.
