Background

I have always been fascinated by the molecular mechanisms that govern gene expression in human disease. Following my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Florence, I had the opportunity to transition to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). There, I worked with Dr. Tobias Engel’s group, first as an intern and later as a research assistant, investigating the role of the purinergic P2X7 receptor in epilepsy.

Research

In October 2025, I began my PhD journey at RIMLS in Peter Tessarz’s group. My current research explores the metabolic crosstalk and acetyl-CoA metabolism within the hematopoietic niche. Specifically, I am investigating how the interaction between MSCs and AML cells drives epigenetic rewiring, seeking to uncover how metabolism shapes the landscape of leukaemia.
